I am seeking 15-30 donations of $335-$670 each in order to raise $10,000 to cover the cost of Henry's 3-4 year PhD educational experience. As others and I have supported Henry throughout his bachelor's and master's degrees, it has been a gift to watch a young man grow into a Godly gentlemen and leader, who has found his calling. For those willing to support Henry, semiannual updates will occur via email or teleconferencing. Below is more information about our connection and his journey.
In 2009, I met Henry Bentry Mwalwanda , while he was an intern at Peninsula Covenant Church in Redwood City, CA. During that time, Henry came to me inquiring how he would know if God was calling him to be a pastor or a professor. In many ways, he has become both and much more. With the heart of a pastor and the intellect of a professor, Henry is on a current path of bringing significant transformation to Malawi, Africa.
Henry's story is one of gifting, perseverance, and God's sovereignty. Recently married and now in his mid-thirties, he is seeking to participate in a Doctorate of Philosophy in Transformative Community Development at Mzuz University in northern Malawi. He and his wife, Atu, a school teacher, both have a high regard for education and faith. These are Henry's words about the integration of both.
"Education shapes men and women to participate in God’s mission in the world by bringing a Christ-centered worldview to bear on knowledge, research and its relevance to both the mission of God and the needs of Africa through creative and Biblical solutions for the common good."
At the end of his schooling, Henry's intent is to apply his learning to bring international, national and local community development transformation in Malawi. Specifically, he would like to make a contribution in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, within the African Union Agenda 2063, especially in the key areas of 1) agriculture, water development and climate management, 2) education and skill development, 3) energy, industry and tourism development, 4) transport and infrastructure, 5) health and population.
Thank you for your consideration of this opportunity.
