Henry loses fight to cancer

Donation protected
On February 19th, 2025, Henry was faced with the devastating news that he had cancer. Despite having no symptoms, his life was suddenly upended, and he was forced to confront this aggressive disease, holding on to hope for a chance to fight and spend more time with his beloved family.

On March 11th, Henry traveled to Perth for his first appointment, only to be told that there was nothing they could do for him at that moment, and he needed to undergo a biopsy before any treatment could begin. Despite this heart-wrenching news, Henry's willpower to fight the disease remained strong. He then traveled to Bunbury to be with his daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren, surrounded by the comfort of his family.

On March 14th, Henry was admitted to the ICU at Bunbury Regional Hospital (BRH), where he spent his final days enveloped in love. It was there that he came to terms with the severity of his condition and expressed his deep wish to return home to Broome, to take his last breath in the land that had always meant so much to him. The dedication of the teams at BRH, the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS), and Broome Hospital ensured that his wish was honored, going to extraordinary lengths to bring Henry back to country.

In this devasting time we are raising funds to help support us with funeral expenses and other cost associated with the loss of our Dad. His work will continue to inspire and shape the future of health care for Indigenous communities for many years to come.
