Hi, my name is Ashlee and I am fundraising for my son Henry. Henry is 11, turning 12 in July and has some pretty big dreams! He is a talented ballet dancer with dreams of one day going and attending a fulltime ballet school. We live rurally in Armidale where Henry has attended dance lessons at his local dance school for many years. We travel 1.5 hours to Inverell each weekend so he can have one on one tuition with a retired ballerina. He loves going in local eisteddfods and in the last year has been accepted multiple times into the Brisbane City Youth Ballet's Junior Company and recently was promoted to their Main Company. I am an early childhood educator and Henry's dad is a gardener. Henry has 2 younger siblings and while we are all supportive of Henry's dreams, it has its challenges both financially and location wise, with myself often travelling 6 hours to either Brisbane or Sydney. Henry attended scholarship auditions for a performing arts school in Sydney a few weeks ago for their classical ballet stream and was successful in gaining entry to the school on a partial tuition and boarding scholarship for high school, starting in year 7 in 2027! However this will still place financial strain on us back in Armidale. Lastly, my wonderful husband works more than full time as a gardener in his own sole trader business and I am working as much as I can at a preschool and living with cancer, metastatic bowel cancer for which I receive lifetime chemotherapy maintenance treatment in order to remain healthy and stable. I am well most of the time however it would also be my dream knowing that Henry's big goals don't have to be impacted by my poor health, I may be biased but he is an amazingly dedicated and beautiful kid who I have no doubt will be sharing his craft with big audiences in the future!
