Henri P needs his heroes one more time.
Since Henri's liberation from the "shelter" and rehabilitation in my home, he was adopted by the pawfect family, Andrew and Nicole Hampy in April 2015. I am sure all of you will recall that Henri is a puppy mill survivor, dumped in the middle of the night at a shelter with a severe prolapsed rectum, ravaged by parasites, and additionally suffering from severe ear infections, rotting teeth, and a corkscrew tail. The shelter planned to maintain Henri as an intact male and keep him from public adoption until I mounted a very public campaign to stop their unethical and medically dangerous treatment of Henri, forcing them to release Henri to me. Thanks to your generous support, Henri received all of the medical treatment he needed to recover from all of his ailments and through the outpouring of love towards Henri, he recovered emotionally and blossomed into the most gentle, loving, cuddly, adventourous little boy I have ever met. I was humbled by how this community surrounded Henri with love and support. When Andrew and Nicole expressed their love and devotion to Henri I knew they were the right forever home for our little Hero.
Since Henri has been in his forever home with the Hampys, he has had many adventures that has built his confidence and experienced what it means to be a member of a loving family. Henri has thrived! The bond between Henri and his pawrents is unbreakable and is woven with love and devotion. We have stayed in close contact and I am thankful not only for Andrew and Nicole's utter commitment to Henri, but I am also thankful to have gained them as my friends.
In addition to experiencing life as a beloved family member for the first time in his life, Henri has continued to experience several medical set backs. In the eleven months that Henri has been a member of Andrew and Nicole's family, he has required several emergency room visits for a condition known as Pica; Henri will ingest anything and this has resulted in one very invasive emergency surgery and several other procedures to remove items from his tummy. It is believed his Pica is a lingering condition fostered by a life spent locked in a cage with constant breeding. This, in addition to constantly fighting ear infections and allergies, has amounted to $11,000.00 in vet bills, which Nicole and Andrew have weathered with love and faithfulness. Henri is not insurable due to his medical history, so Andrew and Nicole made a commitment to set aside funds every month for Henri in case of an emergeny. Unfortunately, Henri's year has been a financially exhausting one.
On Friday, March 4, 2016 Henri suffered a severe medical set back requiring a costly emergency surgery. HENRI NEEDS HIS HEROES! I am starting this GoFundMe to help Andrew and Nicole with Henri's recent medical issue. The Henri fund that Nicole and Andrew set up for his medical care has been plum cleaned out. I am hoping that Henri's Heroes will find it in their heart to rally around our sweet community foster and once again support him and his devoted forever family. Here is what Henri's forever Momma, Nicole has to say about his recent medical setback:
Many of you know Henri P, the most kind hearted, cuddly dog in the world. Some of you know him from the days when his foster mom and guardian angel, Teresa, nursed him back to health after years of living in a puppy mill. Henri now has two parents whom adore him and would do or pay anything to make his life better. Unfortunately, we are facing that reality again and this time we humbly have to ask for help. Nine days ago, I noticed his right eye looked a little cloudy and immediately took him to his vet. The vet stained it and discovered a moderate ulcer. It was a pin point ulcer and the vet felt confident that it could be resolved with one ointment antibiotic 2 to 3 times a day. We, of course, made sure he received it 3 times per day. Just this past Friday, Andrew (Henri’s Dad) took Henri back to the vet because the eye that started to get better now looked worse. He was then given a plethora of medications and we started dispensing them immediately. We noticed around 4:15pm that it still looked horrible, but decided to give the medication time to work. 30 minutes later, his ulcer burst and it was the most excruciating pain I have ever seen a dog in. We rushed him to the vet to make him comfortable and then transferred him to an animal Ophthalmologist for an emergency corneal graft. Henri came out of surgery at midnight and we took him home to nurse him back to health. The surgery has a 70% chance of success and we are doing everything we can to ensure that success. He is on a strict regimen of medications and has 3 rechecks scheduled with the Ophthalmologist in the coming month.
Henri and his family thank you for your support through this difficult time. You all are truly his guardian angels.
Andrew and Nicole
Henri has a long road ahead of him. While he has lost vision in his right eye, his eyebal was saved thanks to the quick action of Andrew and Nicole. Henri is being made comfortable and is receiving the best care possible. Henri is the toughest little guy I have ever met! He has had four surgeries in less than a year and still is the sweetest most loving little guy. He really is a Super Hero! Funds raised here will go toward paying for Henri's emergency surgery costs. I hope that you can find room for any donation amount to help support Henri and his family. I would also greatly appreciate sharing his GoFundMe page as much as possible.
Henri's Heroes is the greatest group of people I have ever been fortunate enough to get to know. In this frenchie community we are all family and we are all Heroes for this very special breed. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU
Teresa
