I am running the Royal Parks Half Marathon on Sunday to raise funds for the MacMillan Cancer Charity. Your support would be really fantastic.

MacMillan provides reassuring and specialised support, through highly trained nurses at home to those in severe pain from cancer. It also helps with diagnoses and embraces anyone who seeks the help.

All too many of our dear friends suffer the ravages of cancer. As I run I shall be thinking of family members and friends who suffered in their last stages of cancer.

My father, half-brother and most recently and poignantly, an uplifting and close friend to many, succumbed to spinal cancer, but through her extraordinary spirit and joy, daytime life remain fun and creative. The nights were full of untold agony.

Equally stoic and exceptional was the charismatic artist Poppy Chancellor, the only daughter of my cousin, who died from cancer at the age of 37.

I would like to raise money in their memory and to help future sufferers of this malicious illness.
