Rob`s Wish for a new fingertip :)

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Rob... 2 yrs ago while cutting some wood on my tablesaw, a negligible decision on my part left me with a severed left index finger, cut to the bone and severing arteries. After stopping the bleeding, I drove myself to the emergency hospital about 20mins away(1hr+ away from Lisbon). After x-raying the finger and seeing no broken bones, the Doctor on duty decided to stitch it up and send me on my way, advising for the pain, "to take some paracetamol". After 7 days of agony and sleepless nights, i was due back to see a local nurse and get the dressing replaced. At the consultation, the nurse on duty advised me to go back to the emergency room and see the doctor there. So off i went... As soon as i entered the room, and from the look of horror on his face, the doctor on duty(different doctor) asked who the hell had done that too my finger, to which i replied that his college had done it(My fingertip now turning black(necrosis) and not looking good at all!) Quickly rushing to his phone, i overheard him speaking to a plastic surgeon in Lisbon, organising a consultation, and was then ushered into an ambulance on my way to Lisbon Hospital. Upon arrival, i was there maybe 45mins, my mind pondering all scenarios and outcomes, and was called in for my consultation... As soon as i entered the surgeon took one look and said that we are going to have to loose this, pointing to my now very black fingertip. In about 1.5hrs, i was all wrapped up and sent back home.... And the rest is history.

Now 2+yrs later i am quite competent again and regained confidence on my tablesaw and other tools, as well as to adjusting to all the little things that we take the fingertip for granted for.

Why this wish then....

Well as it goes, i really enjoyed playing guitar and making music.. i know it is no excuse to not play guitar, or make music having lost my index finger. I have seen many people playing with way less and creating masterpieces... I have tried, obviously, maybe not hard enough, but in my simple way of playing the left index(right hand doing the strumming) is really important...

As my funds are really non existent to even attempt this now or near future...
My wish is to fundraise enough to book myself an appointment with a prosthetist and hopefully be able to get a prosthetic fingertip and continue making music the way i see in my head, with a left fingertip :)

I am very aware many other more in need people deserve your generosity, and i ask your forgiveness if this rubs you the wrong way. I am sending this out with hope and as the name of the charity infers.... A Wish :)

Come what may or may not...

Big hugs, peace, love, joy, happiness and blessings to you all regardless :)
