Henderson Inclusion Senior Trip

The Henderson Inclusion School located in Dorchester is unlike any other school. Pioneered in 1989, the Henderson has committed for nearly three decades, to educate students in the Boston Public Schools with and without disabilities in the same classrooms because we believe that all students bring unique contributions to our school community. We are Massachusetts' first and only K to 12 Full Inclusion School.
The Class of 2018 is a particularly talented, compassionate, and hardworking group of students, and anyone who has taught or known them knows that they have built, within our school, a little family. Their determination knows no bounds. Students from the Class of 2018 fundraised all of the money needed to open our high school's first senior lounge- a legacy they leave to their peers; they have volunteered with the Harvard Square Meals Program, St. Ambrose Family Inn, St. Joseph Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility, Children’s Hospital of Boston, and our lower campus after school program for younger children. They have participated in the Mother’s Day Walk for Peace, and testified before the Boston City Council on the importance of extra curricular programming in our schools. Students in the Class of 2018 have the highest recorded SAT scores in our school's short history. Their future possiblities are endless. To say that they are an incredible bunch of young people is an understatement.
We are currently organizing our first Senior Class Trip, and bringing 30 students to Washington DC to visit our nation's capital. Our students are working hard not only applying to college and finalizing plans for after high school, but have already been fundraising as well. For most of our students, however, raising the kind of money it takes to go to Washington DC individually is quite difficult, and so as their teachers we are establishing a gofundme page to help them out. Our students have a long way to go, but as they continue working hard to raise the money, we will continue to support them. We are grateful for anything that you can spare in support these incredible young men and women. All contributions will be used to help defray the cost of transportation, meals, and accommodations for our students.
