Hemmingway's Medical Treatment

Donation protected
Hemmy is a sweet, loving cat who is in need of our help. He was recently admitted to the ER with an obstruction that would not allow him to urinate on his own. They found during that visit that he was also anemic which may exasperate the blockage. Unfortunately, this wasn't a typical blocked cat case. Many labs, x-rays, and ultrasounds have been done to try to find the cause of the blockage and all were inconclusive. Many attempts were made to unblock him that were unsuccessful. The doctors are concerned that he may have an issue that may require special surgery and that he requires treatment for his anemia. Hemmy is in a lot of pain and discomfort, and he needs our help to get the treatment he needs.

I know that many of you are animal lovers, and I hope that you will consider donating to Hemmy's care. Any amount is appreciated, and it will all go toward helping him get better. Thank you in advance for your support!

Hemmy's story is a reminder of the special bond that we share with our pets. He is more than just a pet to me; he is my best friend. He is always there for me, no matter what. He makes me laugh when I'm sad, and he comforts me when I'm scared. I can't imagine my life without him.

I want to thank my vet friends at Seven Hills, SAGE SF and Northern Peninsula ER for getting him this far in his medical journey. I know that Hemmy is in good hands with his doctors, but he also needs our help.

Here is a little bit more about Hemmy's background:

Hemmy was found in my backyard while I was working. I heard little mews coming from the fence and eventually, I started meowing back too. He couldn’t have been more than 2 months old. He looked so skinny and was flea-ridden. I sat in the backyard for hours, meowing, and giving him little treats. Night came and I headed inside, and Hemmingway followed. As I washed the fleas away from his fur and dried him off I noticed something odd. I never had a cat but was pretty sure they didn’t have six toes! I was reading Earnest Hemmingway's “The Sun also Rises” at the time and found that he was very fond of cats. Especially polydactyls. Hemmingway seemed like the perfect name for such a regal six-toed cat.

Since that day he has been a permanent part of my family. Cuddling the bunnies and dog as if they were siblings and giving his human counterparts that much love if not more. Love is just in his nature and he knows nothing else. It’s been 8 years since I found him as a senior in high school, and I can't imagine my life without him.

Please help me give Hemmy the chance to live a long and healthy life. Thank you for your support!
