UPDATE 1/11/2025
Thank you for everyone who has donated to our Track Relocation project fund. We have made great progress, and have cleared the woodland area, removed the tree stumps, cleaned and levelled the surface and applied the weed control membrane.
The biggest milestone has started today, with the new Astro Turf surface being installed.
We still need a little bit more financial help if possible to help us build the new Drivers Rostrum which we are getting some help with, but our remote location means that all the big stuff has to be delivered to us with a lorry mounted crane.
So - any new or additional donations will be gratefully received and used for the club.
The members of Hemel Radio Control Car Club (HRCCC) have been racing 1:10 scale off road model cars at the Lees Wood Scout Campsite in Chandlers Cross for nearly 30 years (and before that at Phasels Wood near Hemel Hempstead), in the world of RC Car Racing, this is a very long history at the same location.
The Lees Wood Scouting Activity team need more space for Car Parking to support the outdoor activities which they run, and as a consequence, we have to move our Track to another location within Lees Wood, which they have set aside for us.
We are a family orientated club, open to all age groups and experience levels, with a focus on friendly competition and an approach which encourages the younger generation to get involved in a Hobby which is fun, and also provides skills which are useful thru life.
We are not a wealthy club (not sure that exists in the RC world!) and we have always tried to make our racing a cheap as possible, whilst covering our outgoings.
So, the cost of moving the track is something we are looking for a little help with.
The club members have started to make donations to the relocation project, and we have a small fund building in order to carry out the following works:
- Construct a New Rostrum (where we stand to get a good view of the track).
- Build a new Cabin for the Race Control to be run from.
- Prepare the Ground Ready for a new race surface.
- Purchase new Astro Turf to replace the odds and sods which we have used over the last 30 years.
- Buy New Track Marking Pipework.
We don't do big regional races, and are not sponsored in any way - just a place for people to relax, and have a good chat about the RC hobby we all love.
Any donation will be appreciated and allow us to provide another 30 years of Off Road Radio Controlled Car Racing.
