Hello, my name is Rosa. I worked for a large public library district in northeastern Colorado for almost 14 years. I began as a page and worked my way up through the ranks into a position on the senior leadership team. Always dedicated to serving patrons, I chose to specialize in Outreach Librarianship because it focuses on patrons facing barriers to library service and patrons who are traditionally underserved. While advocating for inclusivity and equity of access and service to one of these communities, I was terminated from my Associate Director of Public Services/MOVE position on May 25, 2023.
I chose to seek legal redress because I believe my dismissal was unjust. My lawyer and I are currently waiting for the results from the Colorado Civil Rights Investigation, and we are planning for further action within the court system. Despite my best efforts, I have not been able to find regular employment since last May. Meanwhile, the bills are mounting, and in order to continue my fight for justice, I need to replenish the retainer for my lawyer.
I intend to continue my fight to end the exclusionary choices of my former employer and right the wrongs committed against me. However, I will only be able to do so if I can raise enough money to cover my expenses. Please consider making a donation; any amount will be most appreciated. Thank you.
Rosa
