Help Wilmarie beat LAM!

Donation protected
The veterinary staff at Hospital 5088 are starting this go fund me to support our shift lead, Wilmarie.

Wilmarie aka Wilma is easily one of the most hard working, caring, trustworthy, loving individuals that we know. We work with her every day in the veterinary field and getting to see her and her positive attitude and unconditional love for fellow coworkers, clients and animals is inspiring.

Recently Wilmarie was diagnosed with LAM disease and they are further exploring treatment and causes of two large tumors found in her abdomen. LAM, or lymphangioleiomyomatosis, is a rare lung disease that mostly affects women of childbearing age. In people with LAM, abnormal muscle-like cells begin to grow out of control in certain organs or tissues, especially the lungs, lymph nodes, and kidneys.

Wilmarie left Puerto Rico when her and her family were affected by the hurricane and she had to start new in Florida. Only her immediate family came with, so having family far away during this difficult time has been a stressor as well.

She is the most hardworking individual we know and to see her deal with nausea, upset stomachs, headaches and overall uncomfortableness while she is trying to work to provide for her family is heartbreaking.

Wilmarie deserves the world and more and so does her family - if there is anything we can do to lower the burden of cost so that she can take care of herself as well as her family, we need to do it. NOW! :)
