Help Wedgewood Church With Repairs (HVAC)

For three decades the church has been a beacon of hope for those who are hurting, hungry and outcast by society, church and their families. With unconditional love, Wedgewood has become home not only to Christians, but to Buddhists, Jews, Muslims, Atheists and Agnostics. Under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Chris Ayers and First Lady Vicky Ayers, the church dove into work centered on peace, justice, equality and care for the environment. Working for LGBTQIA equality, Black Lives Matters, and the National Organization of Women, among other efforts, Wedgewood laid a foundation for communities to intersect peacefully and created space for learning and collaboration.
Fierce supporters of the LGBTQIA community, Wedgewood has experienced discrimination firsthand (ten times), including vandalism to their renowned rainbow doors.
Wedgewood has a garden named after Rev. Dr. Nancy Ledins, the first Roman Catholic transgender priest (1979). Nancy was a beloved Wedgewoodian for five years before her death. Wedgewood strives to be as courageous and faithful as the incredible person who was a matriarch in the congregation.
The work has never been easy. Wedgewood, being a church that reaches out to the poor, hurt and outcast, now must create new revenue streams in order to continue its work. There is no debt, and all income goes directly toward maintaining the ministry efforts, activities and operations of the facilities that are housed on the church campus, including a much-used food pantry. (Pastor Chris does not take compensation and currently the only paid person is the soloist.)
Thirty years later, the church needs assistance from the community and beyond. The ministry and outreach continue, but the facilities used to make it all happen require major repairs.
Efforts to raise funds for replacement equipment and repairs will start in a series of phases through this GoFundMe. Additional phases will be for immediate needs for roof replacements, additional HVAC issues, and window replacement. Wedgewood is a non-profit and all contributions are tax deductible. We will provide updates, including photos, so each donor is aware of the progress of each phase and can see what is happening with the much-appreciated donations. The repairs/replacements are paramount to the continued ministry and programming for Wedgewood.
