Help Us Give Zeus the Second Chance He Deserve
We never imagined we’d be here.
What started as surgery to remove a cancerous mast cell tumour has turned into one setback after another.
Despite doing everything we could, Zeus managed to lick his wound and overexert himself while healing. The surgical site has now reopened, become infected, and the skin isn’t healing as it should. We’re now facing regular sedation, wound cleaning, bandage changes every few days, ongoing medication, and potentially specialist treatment.
It’s heartbreaking to watch.
Zeus finally found a family after almost ten years of life. Then, just months after adopting him, we discovered he had cancer.
Giving up has never been an option.
SO….
We are now raising funds for:
-Hospital Day
-Sedation
-Deep & Reversal
-Wound Cleaning
-Preanaesthetic Exam
-Anaesthesia
-Bandage Application
-Medication
-AFTER hours care
-Taz off work
- fuel to & from Busselton every 2-3 days
The reality is that this is what rescue can look like.
Senior Dogs with ongoing health conditions are often the ones overlooked. Their adoption fees can be only a few hundred dollars, but many people understandably worry about the cost of future veterinary care, behavioural support, and the emotional commitment that may come with adopting an older Dog.
Rescue organisations are already under enormous financial pressure, making heartbreaking decisions every day because there simply aren’t enough homes, enough funding, or enough resources.
Too many incredible Dogs never get the chance to experience what every Dog deserves: a family.
We chose Zeus because we believed he deserved that chance.
We didn’t know he had cancer.
We didn’t know we’d be facing months of treatment.
But now that he’s ours, he’s family.
If you’ve ever met Zeus, you’ll understand why we’re fighting so hard. He’s cheeky, hilarious, stubborn, incredibly affectionate on his terms, and absolutely full of life. He has embraced his second chance with everything he’s got.
He deserves the opportunity to celebrate many more birthdays surrounded by love instead of wondering if anyone would choose him.
If you’re able to donate, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
If donating isn’t possible, simply sharing Zeus’s story could help it reach someone who can.
Every share.
Every dollar.
Every message.
It all gives Zeus another chance to heal.
Thank you for believing that no dog is “too old,” “too sick,” or “too much” to be loved.
With gratitude,
Love,
Taz, Ryan, Deccy, Sav, Gypsea, Georgia & Zeus
This is the heartbreaking reality of rescues who “aren’t worth the effort & money”
…
Senior Dogs with ongoing health issues mostly never get adopted & are either euthanatised or shot.
The adoption fee for older Dogs can be as little as $500, but many people understandably feel overwhelmed by the possibility of future vet bills, behavioural support, or emotional stress. Rescue organisations are drowning financially, and difficult decisions are made every single day.
Too many Dogs lose their lives simply because they are old, sick, anxious, “too much,” or expensive to save.
We wanted to give Zeus a second chance, we didn’t know he had cancer & when we realised something was wrong, we seeked medical attention . We never expected this twist .
To help Zeus have a fighting chance we would be so grateful for your support.
In any way you can.
Even sharing Zeus’s story means the world to us.
No Dog deserves to lose their life because they are “too much.”
Sometimes they just need someone willing to treat them like he was apart of the family, because he is .
Thank you for helping us give Zeus the healing journey he deserves.
Love,
Taz, Gypsea, Indi, Georgia &
