Preserving the Past. Moving It Into the Future.
Who We Are
ERREC is a nonprofit railroad preservation organization dedicated to saving historic railroad equipment and the stories behind them — not just for display, but for education, public engagement, and living history.
We believe railroad history should be experienced, not forgotten.
️ The History of ERREC
ERREC was founded by preservation advocates and lifelong railfans who saw historic railroad equipment disappearing simply because no one stepped forward in time.
What began as grassroots railfan involvement grew into hands-on preservation experience. ERREC leadership has spent years actively working on historic passenger equipment, learning firsthand what it takes to preserve, maintain, and interpret railroad history responsibly.
ERREC exists to take that experience and turn it into action — focusing on transparency, public trust, and saving endangered railroad equipment before it is lost forever.
Leadership History — Jonathan Cordova, Founder & CEO
ERREC was founded by Jonathan Cordova, a lifelong railfan and railroad preservationist with years of hands-on experience working directly with historic passenger equipment.
Jonathan spent three to four years working on the historic Silver Iris railcar, gaining practical experience in restoration support, documentation, mechanical coordination, and preservation operations. That experience shaped his understanding of both the challenges and realities of saving historic railroad equipment — from funding and logistics to public outreach and volunteer coordination.
Seeing how many historic railcars were being scrapped simply due to lack of advocacy, Jonathan founded ERREC to ensure endangered railroad equipment would have a voice, a plan, and a future.
Today, Jonathan leads ERREC with a focus on responsible stewardship, transparency, and long-term preservation, ensuring projects like the Jane Marie are saved not just for today, but for generations to come.
️ The History of the Jane Marie
The Jane Marie is a rare historic passenger lounge railcar from the classic era of American rail travel — a time when trains were designed not just for transportation, but for comfort, community, and experience.
Lounge cars like the Jane Marie were the heart of the train. Very few remain today, and once they’re gone, they’re gone forever.
The Jane Marie now stands at a crossroads — One Railcar. One Chance.
Plans for This Summer
This summer is critical to the future of the Jane Marie.
Our goals include:
• Completing the purchase and secure transport of the railcar
• Beginning initial stabilization and preservation work
• Expanding public outreach, education, and fundraising
• Preparing the Jane Marie for her future role as a mobile museum and event railcar
Every donation directly supports preservation work and keeping this historic railcar intact.
