Help us raise money for FRANK! Give him HOPE!
Meet Frank Leo Wachs, a local elderly man from our town who is fighting battles no one should have to face alone. Frank has cancer and is about to lose his leg to gangrene. He has no heat in his home, forcing him to sleep inside a tent with only a small box heater for warmth. With no car and no phone, he walks to the store and relies on the bus when possible.
Recently, Frank lost his SNAP benefits because he couldn’t fully complete the paperwork—he couldn’t see the forms due to poor eyesight and had no reading glasses. When he sought help at the Cambria County welfare office, they turned him away because he technically lives in Somerset County—yet he has no way to get there. In complete despair, he told the welfare officer he was ready to end his life because he had nowhere to turn.
Frank is completely alone, living in extreme poverty. He needs food, heat, medical care, and, most of all, hope.
I am doing everything I can to help him—buying him gift certificates for BILO, working on his SNAP benefits, trying to research on getting him oil assistance, and i even ordered him glasses so he can read again and see better. But Frank needs more than what one person can give—he needs a community to stand behind him.
This GoFundMe is to help Frank:
✅ Get proper heating for his home until paperwork is submitted for assistance.
✅ Buy food, clothing, and daily essentials
✅ Cover medical expenses and possible placement in a care facility
✅ Provide transportation assistance so he can access resources
Frank asked me why I was helping him and why did i care so much? I simply said because I am a Christian. He teared up and asked, "Is Jesus your Lord and Savior?" When I said yes, he started crying and said, "I guess I don't have to kill myself then." That moment broke my heart, but it also gave me hope—hope that with kindness, we can change his life.
No human being, should suffer alone, cold, hungry, and without help. Let’s show Frank that he matters, that his service is not forgotten, and that he deserves dignity in whatever time he has left.
Please donate what you can and share this with everyone you know. Even the smallest act of kindness can save a life.
Thank you, and God bless you.
