There’s no doubt that 2020 has had an impact on us all, and like many industries, those of us who have dedicated our lives as creatives have found ourselves in a time of reinvention and uncertainty. Now more than ever, artists must creatively adapt to our ever-changing circumstances, and seek out new opportunities for growth.
That is why when we were recently met with an amazing opportunity to start operating out of a beautiful recording studio in Downtown, Chicago, we knew we were stepping into something bigger than ourselves. That’s right - we are SO excited to announce that starting January 1, 2021, The Static Quo will be operating out of Mix Kitchen! Huge thank you to the owners, Craig Snider and Sam Fishkin, for opening their doors so graciously and allowing us into their space!
Now while this opportunity was completely unexpected, the vision for The Static Quo has actually been a dream of mine for quite some time. What initially started as a music duo between my wife and I, has since been re-imagined into something much more. Instead of a duo, the vision has become one of building a unique community, a collective of talented artists, musicians and creatives. A hub, if you will, of resources for other artists like ourselves to build their brands, assisting them in executing their overall vision through audio and visual services.
We have already been doing this on a much smaller scale, out of our one-bedroom apartment, producing and recording extremely high quality music and videos for our own musical projects. We have been nurturing our skills in audio and visual production/design for a long time, and are confident that the possibilities are endless when it comes to this new studio space.
Heading the Audio Department will be myself (Henry McDaniel aka H.A.N.K), offering services like audio recording, production, songwriting, mixing and mastering. My wife, Nyla McDaniel, will be serving as the Creative Director, providing graphic design, web design, videography, and photography services. My good friend and partner, Vince White is head of A&R, seeking out both local and non-local talent to bring into our world. Having a team like this excites me for what we can accomplish!
What’s next, and how you can join us!
To take full advantage of all that we can offer for our artist community, we are asking for the help of our family and friends to help us build! We are raising funds for things like the use of facilities and overhead costs, equipment, software, marketing, advertising, community outreach through workshops, courses, and much more!
We hope you will be a part of this vision in a way that moves you most. This is a huge step for us and we know we cannot do it alone. Whether it’s through words of encouragement and sharing with your friends, or monetary gifting, big or small. We want you to know we are so appreciative of you and are excited to share this journey with you all.
With much love and gratitude,
The Static Quo
