Emergency Rental Assistance for Youth Center
Donation protected
Greetings!
Thank your for checking out our story...
The School Break is a youth enrichment center located in Austell, Georgia. It was founded by myself, a former teacher, in 2010 because there were no facilities in the area that catered to school-age children only, except for the Boys and Girls Club.
Our motto is: Making learning, days off, family events and after school...fun, educational, affordable and cool! We provide programs and events at affordable rates to families in our community. Our students participate in a variety of activities, including art classes, educational and entertaining field trips, visits from motivational speakers, preparing and distributing snacks and food to the homeless, making cards for the military, making treats for our neighborhood nursing home, visiting local playgrounds and museums, enjoying dances and holiday parties, trash clean up, hiking, an annual end of the school year family trip to Disney World and a whole lot more!
The School Break was started in the basement of a house that I was renting, but once I moved out, I held my after school program in the local library before leasing my first commercial space in 2013! Once we outgrew that space, we moved to a bigger suite in the same building. That space flooded and we were forced to move, due to the landlord not making the proper repairs. We rented a room in a church, but when that church sold, I had to move the program into my home...until our current space became available! I visited the building FIVE TIMES, walking through, imagining, measuring, etc, to make sure it was the perfect fit for our Forever Home! We moved in in May of 2019, operated during the Pandemic and are still here...and hope to stay! Last year when it was time to renew the lease, the landlord increased the rent, as did most landlords, and this year, three months rent is required to renew.
I am asking for help to renew our lease so that we can stay in our Forever Home! The kids, families and myself have made many memories in our facility at camps, Parents' Night Outs, holiday programs, Easter Egg Hunts, playing in the backyard, lock-ins, birthday parties, riding bikes inside the building when we first moved in because of all of the empty space, dinners, preparing food for the homeless, most recently an Earth Day Campout, and more!
We would greatly appreciate any donations!!!
