Kathy was admitted to the ICU at Regions early Thursday morning and has been under a medically induced coma since then (due to seizures and brain swelling) with little to no hope for any quality of life without life support going forward. Unfortunately, it has been a long, intensive and heartbreaking five days for the Ries family and it is with the heaviest heart that they are now being forced to do what is best and take her off life support, given the circumstances at this time.

Kathy was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, wife, aunt and friend. Her four girls Alycia, Ashley, Andrea and Amanda were her light. Her grandson Mason and granddaughter Amelia brought her incredible joy. As did her immense love for their pets and her doily collection, provided to her by her sacred Goodwill.

We ask that you respect the family's privacy, as they are saying their goodbyes today and approaching some of the toughest moments a family has to ever experience. We ask that you show your love and support through prayers and donations for now, as the Ries family will be facing large medical expenses, among other things. We are hoping, with your help, this will be one less thing they will need to stress over at a time like this.
