On Sunday February 14th the Holodys' worlds were turned upside down when their house in North Buffalo caught on fire due to an issue with the chimney. Although they are all safe, the fire caused thousands of dollars worth of damage. The family--Genevieve, Amanda, Claire, and Elliot--lost many of their posessions.
Furthermore, it will be some time before their home will be inhabitable. They are currently staying in the Homewood suites. As you might imagine, the family is not only facing a great amount of stress due to this traumatic incident, they will also face a number of costs to replace all the items that they lost in the fire. The process of assessing the damage and receiving reimbursement from insurance takes time. This means that things will come up that they have to pay out of pocket for. I would love if we could raise some money to make that just slightly less stressful!
This incident is truly an example of bad things happening to good people. Genevieve and Amanda are a couple who have based their lives and careers on improving the lives of others. Genevieve is a nurse who cares for her patients as if they are family and takes great pleasure in helping people feel better. Amanda is a case-worker who uses her background in mental health to help empower people who are trying to cope with poverty, addiction, and other adversity. They are both extremely selfless individuals. Not to mention that the kids are kind, intelligent, enthusiastic 7th graders who have just been put in a really difficult situation!

Please consider donating to donating to help this great
family--especially because they would be the first to do and give everything they could if the roles were reversed!
