The Guv band has been on tour for the past two weeks, playing a string of small headlining shows leading up to a big tour with the band White Reaper, which was slated to start tonight in Albuquerque. As of a few hours ago, this tour has been cancelled in light of restrictions put on venues, gatherings and fears related to the COVID-19 virus. My four band members, and I, along with our driver, his van, and a load of merchandise are stranded inTexas and unable to proceed, as we were were depending on this tour to pay our way through our travels.
If you know me, you know that I’ve taken decades of worth of lessons in the DIY music world to heart and always done my best to figure out how to make things work on the road, but at this time I am at a complete loss. The mounting costs related to touring, gas, accommodations, and musician’s fees have driven me deep into the red financially. To make things worse, I, along with every member of my band, currently have no place to go, as we have all sublet our rooms for the month of March.
With the cancellation of this tour, no tour money coming in for the foreseeable future, and no where to go for the next two weeks I am forced to reach out to my friends and fans and ask you for any type of donation or help that you can provide in order to help us put ourselves up somewhere until we can (hopefully) return to New York and Canada when our apartments becoming available, though the current climate does not even guarantee that we will be allowed back where we live any time soon.
This project does not make a profit. Touring is a big part of my life and income. I operate at a loss in order to do the only thing that I know how to do. This situation is unlike any other I have ever been put into, and I see no other way out than to ask for you help. I understand that this will be effecting every worker and every industry on the planet, and we will do all we can to help. But right now we need some help from you.
Thank you for understanding, and thank you to everyone who has supported us on the first half of this tour. It has been such a shock, and so encouraging to see so many people out at the show.
Thank you so much. It truly feels heart breaking to end it here. Especially on these terms.
