Help Alex, Austin, and Josh Fund a Safe Living Space

We are Austin, Alex, Josh, and Loaf the cat. This May we moved into an apartment in Cheshire CT. We now are being told we have to move again because our landlord never got certificates of occupancy for our residence.

In addition to that, we have been experiencing health issues and a massive life disruption from our ceiling collapsing and a continuing mold problem. We are raising money to cover our moving costs as we were completely unprepared to move so soon and otherwise cannot afford it.

Since moving in, we have had many issues with the building. There was a mold problem in Josh's bedroom that took weeks to address, and a continuing mold problem in the crawl space. The house has also had numerous electrical issues including shorts caused by water damage from the roof that have yet to be repaired. The landlord was aware of all this, and was even told about the ceiling weeks prior to its collapse but was slow to fix anything and outright refused to do anything about the ceiling until the roof was finished.

On top of all that, the landlord asked us to take down our pride flag that we have displayed in the front lawn. We texted him about it and he asked to discuss it in a phone call. In that call he asked us to take the flag down and became upset when we refused to do so.

We are taking what steps we can legally to recover our rent and security deposit as both were collected illegally but such actions are expensive. With those issues, combined with us having to deal with the major life disruptions they have caused, it has become very difficult to afford emergency moving costs. Our hope in having this fundraiser is that we will be able to cover at least some of those costs and help keep ourselves afloat until we can get ourselves settled again.
