December 24, 2015 Mick & Krystal were traveling home from Burley Idaho with two of their daughters when road conditions and traffic took a turn for the worst. Mick did all he could to save his family and put the car in the embankment off the freeway but slush and ice pulled the car causing it to hit a stationary semi trucks trailer, totaling the car.
Their daughters walked away with minor injuries, bruising and sore bodies, and the youngest with seatbelt burns on her neck. Mick and Krystal were less fortunate. Krystal has a shattered left cheek and will undergo surgery to repair it, and Mick (a truck driver himself) has both arms casted. His left obtaining three breaks including a compound fracture in his upper arm and two other fratures in his lower arm. His right thumb is broken, but in a location to require casting. Both are expected to be released before the New Year but are out of work for quite some time (3 months minimum according to dr). Unfortunately bills cannot be put on hold.
We are all asking for any donation amount to support this wonderful family and help give them a hand up in their time of need. Any funds given will be directly deposited into their own bank account so bills can automatically be paid from there. The funds are needed immediately to ensure utilities stay on for them and the kids, for any medical bills until insurance and legalities can cover them, personal hygene and household items they may need over the course of 4-6 months until they are back on their feet fully. Anonymous would be the best to keep it personal.
These two mean the world to so many in the valley and in other states. For me, Mick has been my brother my whole life. I don't remember a time in my childhood that he was never there. He is my brothers best friend since they were second graders. Krystal is a kind hearted and giving woman and to see them both down and out is more heartbreaking than any one of us can bear. We all want to help them and ease the stresses of this tragedy. Their girls spent Christmas eve at the hospital and then without their parents for Christmas morning. As I hug them both and see the tears well up in their eyes when Mick and Krystal wince in pain, it shows their own helplessness. These kids need help for thier mom and dad.
I would be eternally grateful for the help to them as will everyone else that has stepped in and put thier own holiday plans on the back burner for this family. But that's what we do, we take care of our loved ones.
