On the night of April 13th, one of my best friends and her family's lives were changed for the foreseeable future.


Nui Valley received a "Flash Flood Warning" that night, and within 5 minutes, the water was up to her waist, and she was swimming through her house to save her dogs lives.


Not only was she swimming through water, but debris, branches and trash as a result of the Niu Valley stream overflowing. Couches and refrigerators were floating as well as the cars in the driveway. 


All of their possessions were destroyed. However, the most heartbreaking loss was a beloved family member, Sarah's childhood cat Bijoux, who didn't make it out of the flood alive. And to this day, another one of her cats (Leila) is still missing.


She called 911 immediately, but it took them 3 hours to get to her. Their insurance refuses to reimburse them for food and a place to stay in the meantime.


I want to reiterate that all of their possessions, including clothing, were destroyed; so, they quite literally have nothing left, besides walls and a roof.






Literally every dollar counts, and it's going to a good cause to help a family in need. 

Sarah is truly one of the best people I know, and one of the best friends I will ever have.


Her family opened their doors and hearts to me, giving me a warm place to stay when I was homeless, demonstrating the true goodness in their heart. They are truly amazing people, and I think we all know how rare traits like genuine kindness and goodness are.


This is the least I could do for them.
