Let's Help Jeffrey and His Family
Donation protected
Hi Everyone. Most of you will know that my name is Mike Crosby and I've put this campaign together to help my cousin Paul Brander, his family, and in particular their son Jeffrey. They did not ask me to do this campaign, however I believe it is the right thing to do and that they very much need the help. Monies received will be used for Jeffries rehap and to help the family with medical and travel costs.
The family lives in Wallace, Nova Scotia in the home where my mother grew up and we spent many of our childhood weekends.
Jeffrey is now 21 years old and suffers from aspergers. Living in a small community, there are few services or support groups that assist with people with aspergers. His childhood years have not been easy. Standing out from his classmates, Jeffrey was bullied throughout high school, but toughed it out and graduated in 2013. Since that time, he has been home taking care of his younger siblings while both parents worked. The family has tried without success to garner financial assistance for Jeffrey.
The Night That Changed His Life
About 8pm on the evening of December 26, 2016, Jeffrey and his Mom,Christe, were watching TV and he complained that his eye was twitching. His Mom offered that she would take him to the doctor the next day. At 12.30, Jeffrey woke his Mom from a sound sleep saying " Mom, Mom, wake up, I can't feel my arm". That was the last time Christe and Paul saw Jeffrey with all of his bodily functions. He collapsed onto the floor with excrutiating pain in his head. They called 911, headed for the hospital in Truro and eventually ended up in Halifax, where Jeffrey underwent 6 hours of brain surgery. The C-scan revealed that Jeffrey had a brain tumor the size of an orange and it was bleeding.
Fortunately, Jeffrey survived the surgery, but was paralyzed on his right side. Since that night, his Mom has been off work and for the most part, has not left his side. His Dad, my cousin Paul, is travelling back and forth on his days off and Jeffrey is slowly improving.
WE have no idea where and when Jeffries rehabilitation will end or what the cost will be and as such are reaching out for help. The family will be forever grateful for whatever we can do!
