Helper Needs Help With Dad's Cancer

Donation protected
Hello everyone! Thank you all for being good humans and thinking about helping someone who needs it. I know that there are so many people out there that need help and you can't help them all. If you can't choose to help today, maybe you can help tomorrow, or next week, or next month, we'll still need it.

My name is Ty and I've been a "helper" for a long time. I currently work as a paramedic and have spent my whole adult life as an EMT, Paramedic, and a Firefighter-Paramedic in the most downtrodden areas I could find. I have also helped more people than I can count buy groceries, pay for school, buy cars, provide for children, take care of sick and elderly family, move, and raise funds for various other good causes. Because of all that I now find myself without a safety net to use in my own time of need.

Over a year ago now my father was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. At the time he was 3000 miles away and didn't have access to quality health care or social services. When you find out that the person who taught you to read, to throw a ball, and to help people needs help, you help them. My girlfriend and I moved my father across the country to live with us as soon as we could scrape the money together. My father has been living with us for over a year now and we've been managing. I left my job at the fire department in large part due to my father's illness so that I could be home every night to care for him. My girlfriend helps in every way she can when I'm out working as a medic. In my desperation to keep us afloat I've been working 80-100 hour weeks for over a year and even managed to convince a bunch of people to invest with my girlfriend and I in an Air BnB rental property to supplement our income. We're working on getting my father disability, getting his diabetes under control, and taking care of his other medical needs. Working hard will mean we can meet most of his needs, but right now, we have nowhere for my father to go and not enough money to help him get the care he needs.

My father is very sick and can't live without frequent help. It isn't uncommon for him to spend a night vomiting blood, or to fall down and take over an hour to gather enough strength to stand again. He has good days and bad days. Bad days with a lot of bleeding, weakness, dizziness, and good days where he can stand long enough to make a couple eggs and sometimes even a side of vegetables. I need help to get him through this rough period as we're moving and getting our business up and running so that we can again completely take over his care.

That's where all the awesome people that exist in the world come in... at least I hope. My father can reheat food, get around with a walker/cane, do paperwork etc. What my girlfriend and I want to do for him is to get him a permanent place to stay that has enough room for him to use a walker, a minimum of stairs, and space enough for a larger freezer. We plan to prepare meals for him every week and freeze them for him to use. This campaign will be used to raise money to get him better medical care(The care he gets is painfully slow and inadequate), counseling, housing, medicine, food, and basic necessities (food, toilet paper, soap etc). If we got enough to get a trailer in a trailer park, build a tiny house, or find a permanent place for him to stay we would be forever grateful to each and every one of you.

We are looking for help of any kind. If you have information on housing near Reseda, care, diabetes friendly food, medicine, counseling, or a place to park a tiny house/mobile home if/when we get one we would appreciate it.

Thank You
Sincerely, Ty Jackson
