Wait, a leprosy vaccine? Isn’t leprosy the disease from the Bible and the movie Ben Hur? It still exists?

Yes, it does. Today, millions of people are suffering from the effects of this diabling and stigmatizing disease. Hundreds of thousands of men, women and children are diagnosed every year – one person every two minutes.

We are American Leprosy Missions – a global nonprofit dedicated to curing and caring for people affected by this disease with a mission to ultimately end it. We have partnered with the Infectious Disease Research Institute (IDRI) to create a vaccine to stop leprosy.

We need your help though. After 15 years of research, we have reached a critical point. We have a vaccine ready for testing!! This testing is a Phase 1 clinical trial. Throughout the years, our generous supporters have helped us raise $5.1 million for developing this vaccine, but we still need $271,371 by June 30, 2017 to actually get the trial started. Without this funding, progress on this exciting new vaccine would halt.
