ICL Corrective Eye Surgery finally approved!

Hello! My name is Steph. After three consultations over the last 8 years, I just got approved to have corrective eye surgery yesterday! The total cost will be $8300 at Wolfe Eye Clinic in Cedar Rapids, IA. If my doctor wasn't one of the TWO doctors in the entire state of Iowa to perform this surgery, and if he wasn't moving away in a couple of months, I would just schedule this for a later date so I could have time to save up. But, that isn't the case! My nearsightedness is too high (-9.0 contact lens rx) to get the more common and affordable LASIK procedure done, so the procedure I have been approved for is way more specialized,  in which an actual lens (like a contact lens) will be implanted in my eye, behind the iris. Because of my moderate astigmatism, I need a more expensive lens than what is typically used. And, finally, none of this is covered by insurance as it is considered an elective procedure. However, I also have a condition called seborrheic blepharitis that affects the skin around my eyes. My eyelids and eyebrows become so irritated that my eyelashes and eyebrows will fall out, and it is only exacerbated by having sensitive eyes and wearing contacts. It flares up every 2-3 months, so I have gotten really good at covering up with makeup. So even though it is very expensive, I am just so tired of chronic eye infections, and dependence on daily contact lenses and glasses! I have been eagerly anticipating this appointment while I stay afloat through the pandemic (as we all have!), and I have about half of what I need to pay for these surgeries saved up. Please consider helping me cover the rest of my expenses so I can proceed through life with the ability to comfortably see!!! Thank you so much!!
