Help Jack & Alicia Bring Sophia Grace Home: High-Risk Pregnancy Support

Hi, I’m Jack, and my amazing wife Alicia is now 31 weeks pregnant with our daughter, Sophia Grace. What started as a joyful ultrasound visit, so Alicia’s mom (visiting from California) could see her grandbaby, turned into an unexpected diagnosis at 27 weeks: duodenal atresia, a blockage in Sophia’s small intestine (the “double bubble” sign on MRI).

The great news? Our detailed fetal MRI at Cincinnati Children’s confirmed everything else is perfect; heart, lungs, brain, eyes, spleen, limbs, and strong growth. Genetic testing came back low risk for Down syndrome and other conditions. Sophia is a fighter, and we’re so grateful.

The Plan Ahead

To give Sophia the best start, doctors want Alicia relocated near Cincinnati Children’s by December 1st for weekly monitoring and delivery hopefully 38–39 weeks (as long as fluid buildup doesn’t cause preterm delivery, which is very possible). Alicia will attempt natural birth if possible; C-section only if needed. After birth, Sophia will need surgery (likely one, possibly more) to repair the blockage, a fixable condition with excellent outcomes. We have been given a realistic NICU timeline of 4-6 weeks. Best case scenario, with one easy surgery and fast healing, she could spend 10-14 days in the NICU and the worst case scenario 6+ months in the hospital with multiple surgeries.

We are obviously praying for the lesser and that we get to bring our little girl home as quickly as possible.

Why We Need Help – Goal: $10,000
This move means leaving our home, covering:

• Temporary housing near the hospital (2–3 months)

• Travel – 3-hour drive each way to care for our animals

• Lost wages – limited PTO while off work

• Maintaining insurance coverage, full cost out-of-pocket while not working

• Meals, gas, parking, NICU essentials

We’re a hardworking family doing everything we can, but these costs add up fast. Your support lets us focus on Sophia’s safe arrival and recovery instead of finances.

How Funds Will Be Used
• Housing & utilities near hospital: ~$4,500
• Travel & animal care: ~$1,500
• Insurance coverage: ~$2,000
• Food, gas, NICU needs: ~$2,000
Every dollar brings us closer to holding Sophia Grace—fixed, healthy, and home.

Thank You

We’ll share updates: scans, the big move, delivery day, surgery, and Sophia’s first smiles. God has carried us every step, your prayers and shares mean the world.

With hope and gratitude,
Jack & Alicia
