Help Simon Walk Again After Emergency Surgery
Donation protected
Simon is my seven-year-old standard poodle, and he’s always been a lively, loving companion. Last weekend, Simon fell off the bed in his sleep and injured himself trying to get back up. After rushing him to the vet, we learned he had fractured discs in his spine, and he needed emergency surgery to remove pieces from L4 to L12. He was rushed to Metropolitan Veterinary Specialists and Emergency Services in Louisville for the surgery last week. The surgery was successful, but Simon is still unable to use his back legs. We’re holding onto hope, as his doctors say he has an 80-90% chance of healing back to normal with time and care.
The past week has been overwhelming. On Wednesday morning, we were told Simon had just 24 hours to get the surgery or he would never walk again. We had to act fast and took out a loan through a pet care company to cover the cost, since the full amount is due when Simon comes home. Along with the surgery, we’re also facing the ongoing expenses of medications and the added challenge of missing work to care for Simon during his recovery. Now, we’re facing a large monthly bill on top of the stress of his recovery. While we’re hopeful that rehab won’t be necessary, the financial burden of the surgery and related care is more than we expected.
Simon means the world to us, and we want to give him every chance to recover and enjoy many more years. Any support will go directly toward paying for his emergency surgery, medications, and helping us bring him home to heal. Thank you for reading Simon’s story and for any help you can give.
