While many people are experiencing hardships during Covid, our dear friend Shanda Clay has also been struck with many obstacles. Since April 2020 Shanda has endured these obstacles with little support. Not only has Covid negatively impacted her air BnB business but also she encountered health and personal struggles. Unfortunately, the burdens continue to grow.

In April of 2020 Shanda experienced severe health complications. After a sudden rush to the hospital Shanda discovered that she was experiencing a brain hemorrhage known as subarachnoid hemorrhage. This led to her being on disability and unable to work for a total of 7 months. This is when the financial burdens began. Due to this brain bleed Shanda is now only allowed to work 4 days a week per her doctor’s orders which continues to perpetuate her financial burdens. On top of her health struggles, Shanda was no longer able to operate her air BnB, The Big Lanai, for 10 months. Since her air bnb had become her primary source of income this was a very devastating influence on her financial situation. To further increase her struggles she also began proceedings to dissolve her relationship from her partner of 10 years. This means that the house they had purchased together and had been her primary residence for 5 years is at risk of being lost if Shanda and her ex-partner cannot come to a reasonable agreement for Shanda to purchase the property from him. Regrettably her ex-partner had spent cumulatively less than a year at the property and applied minimal effort to maintain and improve it. Currently, he has already moved on and purchased a new property for himself. All the while Shanda has poured her heart and soul into making this her forever home and business. To prevent Shanda from losing her home, we are asking friends to help her raise the funds to buy her former partner out of the investment. Any and all contributions will be greatly appreciated and will help Shanda be able to focus on her health, being able to work regularly, and develop a livable financial standing.
