Send Serena to College

Serena is my wonderful 18 year old child who we were graced to be able to raise for the last 2 years as one of our own. She came from a difficult background with a paranoid schizophrenic mother and as we came to learn of her difficult situation, DCF agreed for us to be her "safe house". It was a way to allow her to have a normal life, but keep her out of the system. Serena is a kind, smart, talented, determined, young lady with a drive to do great things. Her skills in and love of art are phenomenal and a great gift in her life. She is smart and recognizes that her love of art may not pay bills as an adult, so she's combined her love of art with her love of digital design and is going to school for graphic design and wants to use it in ministry. Getting to college has been a long road. In her first two years of school her grades were not great. She never got more than 30 minutes of sleep at a time, because her mother constantly woke her up to make sure she was still alive. As a result her grades suffered in school. Since she has been with us she has been an all A and B student with the rare exception of a class she struggled in such as math. But she works hard and puts her whole heart into everything she does. Because she did not go into the system there was no financial support from DCF. I offered to adopt her and as an adopted child she would have a full 4 year scholarship, but she would not let me, for fear it would break her mother's heart, ( yes she is that kind of child :). Because of these circumstances she has no school assistance for college. She was accepted into a good college here in Florida and will be attending this fall, but her funding is falling short and while I do want her to have a job while attending school, I don't want finances to be something she worries about. I want her to be able to live the real college life experience. Most of her childhood was stolen from her. I want her to see what life could be like and to get to go away and learn about who she is. I know there are great things in store for her future and that God has great plans for her, but I need help to help her get there. Please donate any amount you feel is appropriate and help Serena get to live a few years like a normal college student and find out who she really is and what life can be like.
Any and all help is appreciated. She is a very appreciative, unassuming, kind, generous child and I know that any help would mean everything to her.
