Help Scar Heal
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Shannon and I'm fundraising on behalf of my niece, Scarlett, who was recently diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer.
In her three years of life, Scarlett had been seemingly healthy. It was only a month ago that she began experiencing headaches along with some periodic bouts of vomiting. Concerned parents, my sister and brother-in-law took her to the emergency room for an MRI. The imaging showed a large brain mass the size of a fist located in her right frontal lobe. She was scheduled for surgery two days later. The surgery went well and the neurosurgery team believes the tumor was removed; however, pathology returned showing a high-grade cancer.
She has been able to talk, eat, and walk post-operatively with no apparent deficits at this time. She begins a six-month cycle of chemotherapy soon. Additional treatments or clinical trials may be determined at a later date.
Our family received this news on March 17, 2023, and in a matter of days, we were encouraged and covered in prayer by friends and family, near and far. Many of you have generously asked how to best support my sister, brother-in-law, and sweet Scar during this time. On behalf of our family, I thank you for your thoughtfulness and compassion as we begin this journey to help Scar heal.
In anticipation of a long road ahead, we are starting this GoFundMe to help my sister's family cover any medical procedures or treatments not covered by medical insurance.
All donated funds will be allocated to Scarlett's medical expenses. Any funds received over and above her medical expenses will be donated to childhood cancer research.
