Phantom & Emily's Medical Bills

As anybody personally receiving a link to this fundraiser understands, Emily Kay has been working tirelessly as a dog trainer for the last decade of her life. She and her search and rescue dogs have found countless lost animals. Anyone who has seen her work has seen her take a worst-case scenario household dynamic and turn it around with her keen ability to understand dogs AND people! Emily can take an aggressive dog whose owners have been advised by multiple sources to put them down and turn them into the sweetest, non-reactive family dog that the 6-year-old can now take on walks.
If you think I'm exaggerating, just go read her yelp reviews!
Emily has always had a right-hand dog, a turnkey sidekick pup who helps her business run smoothly.
Right now, this dog is Phantom (sometimes known as Mongoose or Goose for short!).
Phantom is impossible not to fall in love with, and is currently racking up a vet bill that could jeopardize Emily's ability to continue taking care of the Santa Cruz community's dogs and families - just as she was planning to purchase the facility from which she runs her business, too!
If you know Phantom and Emily, you probably know that this has been a long-standing fight for her health which started when she was just a puppy.
This has been incredibly trying for Emily and Phantom. We're just trying to help alleviate the burden that such a financial output would have on a local business that has helped, and continues to help, so many of our beloved community members and canine companions!

Medical Update on Phantom as of 5/26/22 @ 6 PM - She was admitted to the ER 5/24/22, has been moved from Sage in Cambell to Mount Hermon vet and now is back at Sage. After bloodwork, radiographs, an orthopedic exam, ultrasound, and multiple veterinary opinions, finally it was determined that Phantom has pneumothorax from an unknown cause. shes been hospitalized for 24 hours on oxygen and pain management, routinely having the air and fluid from around her lungs removed via thoracocentesis. Today, her CT scan showed abnormal tissue on one of her lower right lung lobes with a small hole. She has a chest tube placed and is scheduled for a 5-hour surgery tomorrow.
She is estimated to remain hospitalized for at least the next three days, every 24 hours, averaging a minimum fee of approximately $1,334 + an additional $1500 per day in fluid therapy, medications, post op care, etc (which is a cherry on top of the substantial culmination of fees she has already incurred thus far of just over $10,000.)

We appeal to your good nature as a dog lover and as a Santa Cruz local who supports reputable businesses which actively give back to the community in such a selfless manner. Emily has never accepted money for her & Phantom's recovery of lost pets, people or the bodies of our loved ones - let's get her to accept some money on behalf of a grateful community.
