Hello,
Our beloved sweetheart kitty Gizmo has sadly fallen very ill and is in intensive care. One day he was fine and the next day we came home to a bloodbath. Turns out he formed a severe blockage in his urethra which has caused extensive bleeding and if he wasn't treated right away, he would have died. He was admitted to emergency and put on an IV so fluids can be pumped into him and a catheter has been inserted into his urethra to flush out all the toxins. The vet said she has not seen that much blood in a very long time and even after almost 48 hours of flushing, it is still coming out very bloody which is concerning. They are running tests to make sure his kidneys haven't been affected due to back up of the toxins when he was blocked. He received an x-ray that shows a potential stone in his bladder. In order to know for sure, they need to run an ultrasound. If it is confirmed, he will then need surgery to remove the stone and to flush his bladder and urethra complety to rid him of any particles that may be in there so that they cannot shift and go down his uretha, causing another blockage. So far, he has run us about $4000 and on top of that, we were qouted $3500-3800 for the surgery. They advised us that we are able to move him from the emergency clinic after the emergency procedue for the surgery to save money so we are looking around for other quotes as the $4000 has already maxed us out.
This has all come at the worst time as I (Monica) lost my job in March and haven't received a paycheque in 2 months due to ongoing issues with my former boss who decided not to pay me what he owed me and am now in the process of working through a claim with the Labour Board. Adam has been covering basically everything which we normally split so we have fallen behind quite a bit. And just as I got a new job, this happens. We can't catch a break :( The last thing we wanted to do was ask for help but with the quoted cost for surgery, we now have no choice. I have made the goal at $2000 only because GoFundMe requires a a goal to make the page, but anything would help. We're not looking for a miracle and know that not everyone is able so please don't feel bad if you can't. We know that basically everyone is struggling with their own bills, problems and life in general but if you could spare $1, $2 or $5, that would be beyond amazing because everything adds up. We appreciate any help <3 and if you can't donate to us, then please consider making a donation to the residents of Fort McMurray who have lost everything they had in the insane wildfires happening. You can click this link to donate to them...https://donate.redcross.ca/ea-action/action?ea.client.id=1951&ea.campaign.id=50639.
Thank you in advance and also to everyone that has been reaching out to send love and support. You guys are amazing <3
