Hewn from the mountains and valleys of Mendocino County, nurtured by the wilds and wonders of this majestic place, these two splendiferous musicians have set forth on a quest armed with cellos, ukuleles, guitars, and rainbows; to record an audio document the likes of which the world has never seen (or heard)!
Who We Are:
About Kyle Madrigal: I was born an artist and musician, always naturally inclined to connecting the seemingly unconnectable dots of life and love. Mystery is my starting point and from there I move into even more mysterious depths. I have been obsessed with sound and the magic of recording sounds to be played back in the future. Recording has always seemed like some sort of time machine, capturing what was once uncapturable, preserving that happening in that space for time immemorial. I view the whole world through the lens of music. All things are vibrations, some harmonious and some dissonant. This point of view has led me to travels deep inward and outward around the world. Playing music wherever I go, I have found that organized sound in time conjures up a sense of connectedness in the people listening and that feeling bleeds out into their daily lives. Music is one of the most powerful forces to human nature, and I have succumbed to its forces fully and wholeheartedly. I look forward to sharing my vibrations with you. Enjoy. (And yes, I have played music in many bands including The Dirt Floor Band, The Real Sarahs, Charley Crockett and The Blue Drifters, McKenna Faith, Von Chavez and The NazGhouls, Cult Of Ours, Whistlin’ Dyl and His Wild Cowboys, and many others. I have produced and engineered many albums including Charley Crockett’s “Stolen Jewel” and The Real Sarahs upcoming full length album.)
About Sarah Rose: I am a singer-songwriter, ukulele player and cellist born and raised right here in Mendocino County. I first fell in love with the cello at four years old and it’s been all about music ever since. In my songs, I draw upon my own life experiences and travels: Sojourns to India and Africa, bluegrass in Asheville, backpacking in the Trinities and Cascades with my ukulele in tow, Scottish Fiddle festivals and camps and a childhood immersed in classical cello and folk music. In January 2016 I released my first solo acoustic album ‘Lay My Burden Down’. I am wildly excited to jump into this new project with all the lessons learned about recording fresh in my mind. The vision for the ‘Lay My Burden Down’ album was intimacy and simplicity; it was just a voice, a uke and a cello. I am ready to take this album to the next level by creating richer, fuller arrangements with Kyle.
The Project:
Our aim is to record a full-length album featuring both of our talents. Both of us being multi-instrumentalists, this album will be rich in scope. It will feature vocals, piano, cello, guitar, mandolin, ukulele, percussion of all sorts and even some exotic instruments like the Chinese Guzheng. We are both talented songwriters and this album will be completely co-written original material. We will record in the Little Lake Valley in Willits, California and our inspiration will be informed by the incredible nature around us. Spring is upon us and her abundant beauty is reflected in the songs.
Help Us Get There!
We are raising funds to cover production, manufacturing and living costs for a one-month intensive album creation period. We need the funds as soon as possible to keep our momentum in the coming months and get this album out to the public in a timely manner.
We are both deeply grateful and humbled by our community’s outpouring of love and support over the years of us playing together, and separately, throughout the county. Your enthusiasm is the fuel to our fire! You motivate us to dig into this project and create juicy succulent sound waves for your listening pleasure! As indie artists we can only exist in the way we do because you fine people show up for us again and again! You make it possible for us to follow what we are passionate about! So thank you thank you thank you!!
We would be honored to receive your support. No donation is too small or too large. The both of us have brought smiles and tears to many people’s faces with our music for more than a decade. With your contribution you will help us continue to bring joy to many peoples lives!
