Her name is Raquel Pines Conway. (My wife.) This GoFundMe will help with her medical care and get cutting edge treatment at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, MD and the Kennedy Krieger Institute (International Center for Spinal Cord Injury.) They are both near top of the field that specialize in Spinal Cord Injury and Cervical Myelopathy (a degenerative condition of the spine that can cause paralysis). It will also help with her medical care and other expenses so that we can concentrate on her treatments and rehab. Pushing forward. Hopefully, they can help her with intensive physical and occupational therapy or possibly integrating types of injections and a spinal stimulator for pain. Whatever it takes.
- She fell 8 yrs ago and seriously damaged her neck and lumbar spine. She has had 2 spine surgeries across 4 vertebrae as a result. Cervical disk replacements and lumbar fusion. The degenerative condition associated with that has progressed gradually but more so the last couple years and she is now approaching paralysis if she don’t get the right treatments. She suffers from muscle atrophy, weakness, pain and tremors. She is no longer independent and needs help doing almost everything and cannot walk on her own. She is one tough lady.
We are hopeful their specialized treatments will stop the pain, improve her symptoms, strengthen the body and prevent near paralysis. We can only hope and pray.
