SO I came across Pumpkin, who is an 11-month-old paraplegic cat from the Philippines, on TikTok one day and was inspired to help.

I am the wife of a veterinarian (also social worker), and my husband said there could be solutions for vet care for Pumpkin's quality of life, or possible answers in testing to fix his issues.Either way, we want to help his owner and Pumpkin. Help me... to help Pumpkin.

We already covered the cost of the X-Rays (see images) to confirm the issue.

All updates will be posted for supporters. This week, the owner did X-rays, which we reviewed and confirmed that there is more to be done testing-wise. We are waiting for the lateral x-ray image right now. The owner, Ellie, will have a direct beneficiary account, and we have their PayPal. U.S. dollars go very far in the Philippines for vet care, and the testing is a lot less in cost than the states.

His story has touched thousands on TikTok, and his owner remains positive in spite of all the sadness. Ellie, His owner, featured in heartwarming videos, goes above and beyond every day to care for him—helping with assisted morning walks, moving his body for PT, and ensuring he gets the vitamins he needs. Despite her own challenges living in a remote part of the Philippines...she never gives up on Pumpkin, showing a level of dedication that inspires everyone who follows their journey. Since my husband is a vet in the states, and we have been reviewing his case (AKA it is real). But Pumpkin needs lots of support. His next steps are most likely a CT and/or a wheelchair.

The exact cause of Pumpkin’s paralysis remains a mystery. His owner has taken him to a local clinic three times, but advanced tests like CT are out of reach due to high costs and the distance to larger veterinary hospitals. X-rays have been done, but the quality is limited by local resources. My husband, a neuro vet in the USA, has recommended an CT as the next step to help diagnose Pumpkin’s condition and get answers.

With your support, we hope to raise funds for a wheelchair and the necessary medical tests that will give Pumpkin a better quality of life. His owner rarely asks for help (you can tell lol), but this time she needs the kindness of the community. Funds will also go towards the travel costs for an AC bus for Pumpkin to get to a clinic that can do an CT from their small town (maybe Cebu, maybe Manila if needed by flight). Transparency will be used for all funds that get used too.
