Help Rebuild Our Space Brisbane - Cyclone Alfred 2025

The hardest thing for us is asking for help in a time where so many are experiencing loss. Our Space Brisbane, our beautiful community pottery studio and café in Wilston, QLD, has been absolutely devastated by the floods and aftermath of Alfred. While we took every precaution and successfully safeguarded the majority of our equipment, the remaining losses are substantial.

Beyond the immediate financial impact, this disaster affects our dedicated team and the broader community who rely on Our Space. We are doing everything possible to sustain ourselves in the short term, but the road to reopening will be an uphill battle, contingent on weather conditions and safety measures.

When we established our studio in 2022, we did so entirely independently, funded by our own savings and built with our own hands, with support from our friends and family. Like many small businesses, affordability dictated our location, even in a known flood-prone area. Our Space has become a place to get our hands dirty, share a laugh, have a cuppa, and create something beautiful. It’s where so many of us have come together to learn, connect, and escape the daily grind. But right now, our community needs your help to rebuild.

What Happened?

In the aftermath of Cyclone Alfred, floodwaters rushed into the studio and café. While we worked around the clock to prepare as best as we could, the damage is overwhelming. It’s going to take a huge effort to get back on our feet as quickly as possible.

Why Our Space Matters

If you’ve ever walked through our doors, you’ll know Our Space isn’t just a studio: It’s our community. It’s where we come to have a crack at the wheel, try something new, share stories, and sip on a bloody good coffee. It’s where friendships have formed over lumps of clay, and where creativity has flourished.

How You Can Help

We are 100% independently owned down to our bricks and have building and business insurance, but it doesn't cover flooding being in the area that we are in. The cost of rebuilding is pretty eye-watering, and we need help to replace:
