Help OCAF help the animals

Tax deductible
For nearly 20 years Oceana County Animal Friends has been working to save lives and find homes for homeless and unwanted cats and dogs, but it's not about finding new owners, it's about finding good homes for each and every one of the animals we come to love as we care for them.

On average we take in and spay or neuter, worm, vaccinate and rehome over 80 domestic animals, mostly dogs and cats, between mid-April and the end of October every year.  During that time we also take in, raise, rehabilitate and release over 50 wildlife animals or orphans.   (Here we are using a bottle rack to feed the fawns to minimize human contact and increasing their success rate when released)
Additionally, we make regular runs to C-snip in Grand Rapids, MI, which works to prevent the overpopulation of dogs and cats by providing quality, reduced cost, spay and neuter surgeries.  Doing this is a three day process with intake at our facility the night before the trip, the next day is an approx 175 mile round trip to C-snip where the pets are dropped off for the spay or neuter and then returning the next day to pick them up and bring them home.

Lastly, we spend our weekends holding adopt-a-thons at any and all festivals or other fun activities like art fairs that are going on in the area where we also talk with everyone who stops by about the importance of spay, neuter, training, healthcare and other aspects of responsible pet care.  It is in this way that we find homes for so very many of our wonderful pets.

We are a no-kill rescue and pets that have not yet been adopted at the end of our year stay with foster families until a home can be found for them.  We also help out other rescues by taking animals from them when needed and when there are hoarding cases that result in large numbers of cats or dogs needing rehabilitation and rehoming.

This is a huge undertaking accomplished by just a handful of people.... none of whom are paid.  Absolutely everything that is done for Oceana County Animal Friends is done by volunteers.  That means that one hundred percent of the money given to OCAF goes to help the animals.

Like any rescue, we have have adoption fees, but like most rescues, the costs are far greater then the fees.  We rely solely on donations to pay for the spay/neuter, food and litter, rabies vaccinations and any other medical care. In order to keep adoption fees low (which helps increase adoptions), we must raise funds daily.  Every donation saves a life no matter how big or small and with your help we can help more animals.

We are desperately in need of funds.  We operate on a very thin budget, we need your help to be able to open our doors and continue our care for these precious animals.  It does not have to be much.  If everyone who reads this would donate even $5, if we can reach our goal, we would be able to not only take care of the number of animals we normally do, but actually get ahead of things by helping those in our community who can't afford to spay or neuter their pets despite the services offered by C-snip and increasing our educational efforts.  Can you spare just one cup of coffee a month to make a difference in these precious lives?
