Nyla, my beautiful dog, has been very sick for the past 6 months. It started with her having diarrhea with blood in it, vomiting, being lethargic and unable to eat. I have had her at my regular vet for this many times and they have done lab work, x-rays and diagnostic tests and repeated it many times, but were unable to find anything to be the cause. She continued to have issues with some days being a little better than others, but mostly being so sick she couldn’t move or eat. The vet tried different foods with no change to her condition. I have had her to the emergency vet also many times and they have prescribed several medications to cover all types of possible issues such as stomach ulcers, irritable bowel, pancreatitis, etc., but she has progressively gotten worse. I have already spent thousands on her issues with no clear idea of what was the cause and have exhausted my funds. On her last visit to the vet it was recommended she have another ultrasound. I took her to the internist vet today and an ultrasound was done. The ultrasound showed she has an approximately 2 inch tumor in her intestine which must be removed. The tumor appears to be self-contained, no appearance of spreading, and her lymph nodes appear normal upon examination. The recommendation is to have surgery quickly to remove the tumor and she will need blood transfusions. The prognosis if she has surgery quickly is good. Without the surgery, she cannot survive much longer as she is bleeding internally and unable to eat and I am faced with the very difficult decision to euthanize her due to her deterioration and the discomfort she is experiencing. This is so heartbreaking to me because she was a healthy, happy girl before this started. I have struggled to pay for the expensive bills from all the vet visits and tests, which have run thousands of dollars, but have somehow managed to scrape by to this point. Nyla was treated today for her anemia due to the bleeding and we have been sent home to contemplate the findings and options.
I have applied for assistance from organizations who say they have grants for this type of situation, but received email declines to my applications immediately after submitting them, as if no human being even reviewed the application. I pray this isn’t the case.
I am desperate to save my beautiful Nyla. I am a 32 yo man with no human children and Nyla is my family. I work hard at my job 7 days a week, live in an efficiency studio apartment attached to my work and barely scrape by. If I could trade places with Nyla I would in a heartbeat! Nyla has been with me since she was a puppy and it is heartbreaking to think I might be forced to lose her because I can’t afford the high cost of this surgery. I feel like I am letting her down.
The estimate for the surgery I received today is $5,192.97 on the low end to $5,806.97 on the high end (estimate posted). I’m not the kind of person to ask for help, usually I am the person giving help to those who need it, but I am desperate to save my Nyla and saw what good hearted people there are on Go Fund Me who help people like me when an unexpected desperate circumstance arises. Please, if you have anything at all to spare, $1, $5, $25, or more, I would be forever grateful if you could assist me in helping to save my Nyla. If you cannot help with a donation, I would appreciate your prayers…the power of prayer is strong.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart and God bless!
Help spread the word by sharing!
