Support Needed to Prevent Eviction

Some backstory:

July 2023: My partner (at the time) and I signed a lease for a 2 bed apartment as co-tenants, with an agreement to split rent and utilities.

February 2024: My mother passed, and I stopped working so that I could figure out my duties as her beneficiary.

My ex and I agreed that he would cover my half for the next 4 months. This agreement came because I had loaned him money between 2022-2023, and this was going to be his way of paying me back. However, he fell short by a few hundred each month. June came, and he didn’t have any of the rent. Our gas was shut off as well because he didn’t pay it. The last of my savings went to turning the gas back on. I realized that he wasn’t capable of covering my half/paying me back at the time, so I started working again.

We broke up within the first week of July, but agreed to live together and be civil. We were supposed to continue paying for our half of rent and utilities again.
 He only upheld his half for a month, and refrained from paying rent every other month. The agreement to stay civil quickly fell apart too, when he threatened me with physical violence.

Nothing came of it until September when he did get physical with me for the first time. I attempted to get him to leave or removed from the lease; he was uncooperative, the leasing office provided no help, & police were also of no assistance.

Things escalated in November with more physical incidents, as well as excessive verbal abuse, threatening to take my cats, and purposefully withholding funds for rent. One final incident at the end of November led to him finally being convinced to leave the apartment.
 
I had been so focused on getting one of us out of the apartment that I hadn’t taken much time to prepare for what would happen afterwards. With the help of some financial assistance from my college, I was able to pay the rent and bills until April. By the time I gathered up the rent money for April, the building owners filed for eviction, which added extra fees to what I owed.

They won’t accept a payment of what I currently owe, but did agree to accept payment if it included the next two months’ rent, as those are the last two months of my lease.

I have until the end of the month to gather the remaining funds.

I really want to get to the end of my lease, so that I can leave this apartment and have a fresh start.
