My name is Jannell, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for help for my sister Natalee and her family in Jamaica, who have lost everything after Hurricane Melissa tore through their community.

Hurricane Melissa damaged their home with flooding. They have two young children (my nephew and niece), and for the past several days, they’ve been without drinking water, food, clothing, or money. Everything they owned was damaged or washed away. They’re relying support just to get through each day.

My sister Natalee is a loving mother and a strong woman who has always given her best for her children, family and her community. But this time, she can’t rebuild alone. The devastation left behind is overwhelming for everyone affected.

I have lived in Jamaica for most of my life and I love my wonderful Island and People. We are resilient and always willing to give a helping hand. But a disaster like Hurricane Melissa, doesn't just take away your house, it takes away safety, a sense of normal life and even sometimes hope.

Rebuilding takes time, even this simplest of resources can make a big difference.
