What do you think of when you think of your mom? Is she the family rock, a tireless caregiver? Mine is all of those things and with your help, I might have a chance to give something back to her. Her life.
My mom Yolanda Rodriguez and dad live in Venezuela. She was recently diagnosed with stage II/III breast cancer and needs surgery for a mastectomy after completing five rounds of chemotherapy.
Venezuela is in social and economic collapse. Public hospitals are not equipped to provide basic primary care, let alone cancer treatment. In some cases, patients have to provide ALL surgical materials required, including anaesthetics. In many other countries her cancer would be treatable. In Venezuela her cancer is basically a death sentence.
Life-saving option
Thankfully there is another option. She can receive the full treatment in a private clinic in Venezuela. However, it will cost nearly USD$2,500, and that is beyond our family’s means.
My parents earn a combined pension of $10 per month, which is the same price as a dozen eggs. My siblings provide what they can but living in Venezuela they are also barely scraping by. I send money home from Canada every month to pay for their food and other necessities. It is the only way they and many other Venezuelans survive day-to-day.
We need your help if we are going to raise the money fast enough to get our mom the treatment and recovery she needs.

My mom has put her kids before anything and everything. She raised me, my sisters and brother with unwavering love and fierce protection. She educated us and motivated us to dream big, be resilient and self-sufficient. When we were sick she would nurse us back to health. Now it is our turn.
