Help Send Myles To Japan!

Hey Everyone! As many of you already know my name is Myles! I’m currently a junior at Spelman College majoring in International Studies and minoring in Japan Studies. Next spring of 2018 I have been blessed with the amazing opportunity of being able to study abroad in Japan for a semester at Tsuda University located in Tokyo, Japan. This summer I studied Japanese language and culture at Josei International University for a month in Togane, Japan. Between my host family, my friends from the University, and the Spelman and Morehouse students that made up our group, it was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. When I study at Tsuda University next spring I will again be participating in intensive language and culture classes with other foreign exchange students like myself while also conducting my research for my upcoming Senior Thesis.

 As an International Studies major my main goal for when I graduate is to say that I have worked and will continue to work to become apart of a larger global community.   I believe studying abroad in Japan will be the first step towards achieving that goal. I hope my experience there will be one filled with making new connections with others I might not have otherwise gotten to meet and the opportunity to learn about a nation whose influence is often left out of our view.
