Once Upon a ... Saturday...
As you do, chores were being done: floors swept, laundry in the washer, garbage...well you get the point.
A lovely Palo Verde tree had been annoyingly scratching on part of the corrugated awning in our backyard.
So up on the roof Dad went to cut back said tree.
(This is not sounding good)
Suddenly, a scream to startle the neighborhood, (he triggered Mom and I), to which we dropped what we were doing.
(I knew it, not good. Not good at all!).
Dad had fallen through part of the awning, on to the concrete below - about 10 feet.
(Oh no! Mr. B, what the heck were you doing up there?)
After 911 was called, a blessing was given and scans were taken and results presented, we were given the news.
(Stop making us wait! Get to the point Brittany!)
Dad sustained 2 fractures on either side of his pelvis, broke his coccyx and fractured his L5 vertebra. Yes, Pop, Pop broke his butt! as stated by his 3 year old granddaughter.
(WHEW! So glad we finally got here. Okay. Now what?)
Good news? No surgery will be needed.
Bad news? Rehabilitation to learn to walk and heal properly.
Dad, Pop, Pop, Mr. B, Darron - however you know him, you know he is one of the hardest working men on the face of the planet. All of his jobs are physically demanding and he will be out of commission for 3-4 months if not more.
(Oh man...yeah. That's so true! How can we help?)
...................................................................................
Dad's going to be going to rehab to learn to walk again and it's not cheap. As we all know, any expenses of a medical kind can be overwhelmingly high.
We are starting this GoFundMe to help off set the cost of his hospital stay, rehab and loss of income. We would like to reach our goal by July 1st, so we need your help sharing this on social media, through email, by word of mouth, carrier pigeon, smoke signal...you get the idea!
We thank each and every one of you for your help because we understand how trying this time is.
