Ham-Ham House Re-establishment

Donation protected

This year, Ham-Ham House hamster rescue came up against a lot of hardships -- large intakes, many losses, and the subsequent expenses that come along with large amounts of sick and injured, unwanted hamsters. Until recently we had an open door policy that meant that we would care for whatever hamster came to our door - - the finances for that care coming out of pocket when not met by donations to our rescue, and more often than not our expenses far outweighed the financial contributions made to the rescue.

We unfortunately, due to this, had to close our doors to new intakes. This was the last thing we wanted to do and we've already had to turn down hamsters that needed us due to our inability to provide financial support for them once they arrived. We want to remedy this situation as soon as possible, and that's why we need your help. Our main financial concern is providing appropriate veterinary care for hamsters once they get here, in light of both minor and major illnesses. We will shortly be re-instituting our sponsorship program to help with day-to-day expenses, but it's truly the healthcare that can make or break our rescue's finances.

This is where you can help: For every $200 raised in this campaign, we can open our doors to one more hamster past the current threshold we have been maintaining since having to put a hold on new surrenders (we currently have 32 hamsters in our care). Our goal for this campaign is to hopefully raise enough to open up five more spots in our rescue, though we will keep the campaign running past this amount should we meet our initial goal.

Please, if you appreciate what we do and want to help us help more hamsters, consider donating toward our rescue in the new year. There are very few rescues like ours that specialize in the care and wellbeing in a single species, but we believe that rescues like ours are absolutely essential in the fight against the miseducation and irresponsiblity that leads to homelessness and neglect that is unfortunately all too common for small pets.

Thank you, and thank you for all of the support, financial, emotional, or otherwise that we have received from all of you this year. The hamsters appreciate you, we appreciate you, and we all sincerely hope that 2017 is full of more new friends, health, and fun.
