Her name is Ruth E Carbone, for family and friends she is known as “Ruthy” . She is a mother of three and a grandmother of five . She is the wife of a government servant who is planning to retire after close to thirty one (31) years of government service. Approximately 10 months ago, Ruthy went to the emergency room because she felt she was passing kidney stones like numerous times before. After a few X-rays, the doctor told her that she was indeed passing kidney stones. In addition to the kidney stones there were other issues showing on the x-rays that were concerning to the medical staff. Ruthy went through numerous test, and was consequently diagnosed with Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer . Ruthy's husband had to hold off on his retirement due to the required insurance coverage to cover the mounting avalanche of medical bills. Ruthy was accepted to receive treatment at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Newnan, Georgia.
In January 2019, Ruthy had her first surgical procedure. Surgeons removed all the organs that were compromised by the Ovarian Cancer. To Ruthy's dismay instead of good news, after the successful procedure , she received devastating news. The doctors explained to her that the Ovarian Cancer Stage 4, was as result of appendix Cancer, a very rare type of cancer that grows in the appendix. Ruthy was diagnosed with Mucinous Cystadenocarcinoma, this type of cancer also starts in the mucoceles, it is malignant and it had spread to the lining surfaces of the peritoneal (abdominal) and other areas compromising her life.
In April 2019, Ruthy had scheduled her second surgery a HIPEC, when cancers are confined to the abdominal cavity, the HIPEC became her only option. Halfway through the surgery, the surgeons discontinued the procedure. During the surgery malignant tumors were discovered in several vital organs compromising her life and the HIPEC was no longer an option. During the procedure the surgeons inadvertently severed one of her arteries, causing internal bleeding , which subsequently caused cardiac arrest. The doctors worked on her for hours and through the grace of The Lord , doctors, and hospital staff she survived this terrifying ordeal.
Ruthy is now receiving chemotherapy treatment in hopes that the tumors diminish enough to safely remove them from her vital areas via surgery in the near future.
Ruthy and her family are going through a significant financial hardship, with her husband's mandatory retirement and her need to keep her insurance. We are asking for your help. We understand that every one is going through something . No matter how small you think your contribution is, we are grateful for whatever u can donate. All donation will go strictly to Ruthy and her husband needs to ensure insurance coverage continues for the duration of the treament. Thank you for reading my sister's story, God Bless you all.
