On March 16 my sister, Debbie, died.
A few weeks earlier, while Debbie was in the hospital, my mom was diagnosed with cancer. Two days before the funeral, mom began her chemo treatments and the fight for her life.
As you can imagine, though the doctors are optimistic that the treatment will be successful and mom will have many years to live, she is going through an extremely difficult time both physically and emotionally.
Unfortunately, her troubles do not stop there because she also finds herself facing the threat of losing her home.
Debbie and mom lived together and relied on each other's income to make ends meet. Now that Debbie has died, mom is trying to find a way to survive on $1,100 a month.
So, in the midst of her grief and her fight to live, she's fighting for her home: a place of comfort, a place she shared for twenty years with my sister, the place filled with memories.
After speaking with the mortgage company, we have reason for hope. They will be willing to refinance the original mortgage if we pay off her 2nd mortgage. The savings she would realize from this would enable her to keep her home.
She would still be living quite modestly. However, that's the way she has always lived. She is quite frugal and extremely careful with her money. She just needs a helping hand right now.
Lifting this burden from her shoulders will relieve some of the extraordinary stress she is experiencing and better allow her to battle the cancer that is threatening her life.
Our goal of $18,000 will pay off the 2nd mortgage; the closing costs associated with the re-fi and provide a little extra to take care of some repairs that need to be made to the home. Any donations exceeding our goal will be used to pay down the original loan and provide for her needs.
Please help my mom save her home while she's fighting for her life.
Thank You!
