Help me get back to South Africa
Donation protected
Dear friends and family,
As you may know, I had the privilege of traveling with my church to Thubelisha, South Africa a year and a half ago. Not a day goes by that I don't think about and pray for everyone that I met while I was there.
A group from my church will be returning to Thubelisha this summer from July 23rd to August 1st and the Lord has made it abundantly clear that this is the year I am to return. I know the Lord will not give me passion without giving me provision, so I am asking that you will prayerfully consider partnering with me to make this trip possible.
We are now feeding 400 kids a day between three care points. When I was in Thubelisha a year and a half ago the very first care point was in the final stages of being built and now there are THREE! God is moving in a MIGHTY way!
Our church partnered with a non-profit organization four years ago called Children's Cup and that is who will be hosting our trip. Below you can read a little bit about Children's Cup and the heart behind it or visit their website at childrenscup.org
It was founded in 1992 by missionaries Dave and Jean Ohlerking, who began to work in Africa by feeding hungry children and doing so with a determination to make a lasting impact through sustainable community transformation. Twenty-five years later, they are seeing the fruit of their labor. Children, who came to their Care Points hungry and desperate for food and hope, now have grown into bright, hope-filled young adults leading the way in their families and communities. Care Points are places where children are given meals, medical care, character development, education, assistance and Jesus. Coastal Community Church has been partnering with Children’s Cup for the past couple of years, and this will be the second year we are sending a team to minister to the physical and spiritual needs of children in Africa.
I am excited about this opportunity for several reasons, but here are a few:
• I will get to see and spend time with Sibusiso (the child I sponsor through Children's Cup).
• We will get to help feed the kids in the community, provide activities for the children, participate in church services and lead some service projects.
In order to make this journey, I will need some assistance with:
• Prayer! I need friends and family to pray for me and our team. Pray that the Lord will start to prepare our hearts and the hearts of those we will encounter while there. I also ask that you will pray for the financial needs required for this trip to be met.
• Finances! I am raising funds to cover the cost of my trip which is $3,800. I would love for friends and family to partner with me financially. This cost covers my airfare, lodging, transportation and meals during my time in Africa. I would like to ask you to consider making a donation. Take some time to think and pray about it. If you are led to help out with this need it would be GREATLY appreciated! Please know that every little bit counts!!
The payment deadlines are as follows:
March 1st: $1,200
April 1st: $1,250
May 1st: $1,100
FYI: GoFundMe does keep 5% of what you donate
Please note, I can also accept checks, which will be tax deductible! If you feel led to donate this way, all you need to do is make the check payable to Coastal Community Church and attach a sticky note to it with my name on it: Melissa Lane. You can mail the check to:

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. I pray that you can be God’s hand extended to the children of South Africa!
ALL my love and thanks,
Melissa
