Hi everyone, my name is Chantelle I am 23 years old from Lewisham, Southeast London.
Due to the pandemic, I've been on lockdown in Krabi, Thailand for a little over 2 months and have exhausted all my funds on survival as I have not been able to find work. I've created this go fund me page to raise funds so I can purchase a flight back home to the UK. Once I return I will use the remaining funds to sustain myself for the 2 week isolation period I am required to do.
My biggest worry about returning to the UK means I will be going back to being homeless and having to continue coach surfing between friends. Unfortunately, I do not have a stable family unit that can support me leaving me to rely on myself and others. As you can imagine this is not practical or safe for my friends and their families. If I can raise enough I will use the funds to pay for temporary accommodation that Lewisham council say they are providing for vulnerable people. I previously set my target at £1000 as that will cover my flight and food for 2weeks however I need much more. Ideally, I would like to raise £4000 which would cover temporary accommodation and living expenses for 2months.
My dream and part of the reason I went travelling in the first place are to find stability, mentally and financially so I can give back to the community and empower others who have or are experiencing similar struggles as I. This is very important to me as I have met so many other people like myself who have been let down by our government and families, left to survive in an unsafe and uncomfortable environment and being exposed to many dangers. This should not be a reality for anyone!
I understand it is a difficult time for everyone right now and only ask for your support if you can and wish too. Support in any way, whether it be donations, links to other support groups, information, sharing this post etc. Will be very helpful and I really appreciate it!
